Malcolm X

I have never knew much about Malcolm X. Reading the “Learning to Read” expert from The Autobiography of Malcolm X has helped me learn a little bit more about him. I think it is astonishing that while Malcolm was in prison he wanted to learn how to read so he taught himself. I think it would take a lot of motivation to copy and study the entire dictionary.
I believe Malcolm X did a great job at describing how he learned to read. One thing I like is that he told the reason for why he wanted to learn to read before he told us how he learned. I also think he did a good job at telling us what he did after he learned Like how he would check out books from the prison library and read them all night long even after the lights would turn off.
Malcolm X’s “Learning to Read” relates to the first unit because it is a narrative that he wrote about himself. It also relates because it is about him telling us how he learned how to do something new.
