Benjamin Franklin and Malcolm X

Benjamin Franklin and Malcolm X’s essays are both similar and different for a couple of reasons.
Both Benjamin Franklin and Malcolm X’s stories are narrative essays. Both of them tell us about how they enjoyed reading. Malcolm X would stay up all night long reading while in prison. When Benjamin Franklin was a child he would spend all the money he got on books. When he was older, he would spend his Sundays and his time before and after work reading and writing. Their essays are also similar because they tell us what they were able to accomplish. Malcolm X accomplished learning how to read by copying and studying the dictionary. While Benjamin Franklin accomplished becoming a better writer by comparing his old work with his new work.
Benjamin Franklin and Malcolm X’s stories are both written differently. The way Benjamin Franklin was speaking in his story is different from the way we speak today. Malcolm X’s piece of writing sounded more like how we speak today. Benjamin Franklin’s story was also different because he wrote about more than one topic. Malcolm X mostly just wrote about reading while Benjamin wrote about reading and writing. Also, Benjamin Franklin told us a little bit about the different jobs he worked. Like how he was employed in his fathers business and helped one of his brother with his business.
